Olympic College seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Nursing. The faculty member's responsibility is to provide classroom and clinical instruction for the Nursing Programs. Teaching may involve evening, night, and weekend hours.
Nursing Faculty supervise students in clinical agencies, i.e. acute care, long term facilities and in community-based agencies. Responsibilities include promoting positive agency relationships and a strong commitment to collegiality, i.e. team collaboration with agency staff, students and Nursing Faculty.
Essential Functions:
  • Prepare and teach theoretical and clinical content across the span of nursing reflective of the philosophy and conceptual framework of the nursing program;
  • Schedule a minimum of five office hours a week for advising students;
  • Determine appropriate clinical assignments for Nursing Students;
  • Provide clinical supervision and evaluation;
  • Document each student's progress; determine, in collaboration with the student, a plan for achieving success;
  • Attend clinical orientation and faculty meetings;
  • Participate in theory and clinical course evaluation identifying both strengths and areas for development;
  • Collaborate in a timely manner with the Associate Dean of Nursing regarding student and/or course issues;
  • Keep abreast of program policy and procedure changes;
  • Design, plan, sequence and evaluate program curricula in collaboration with the curriculum committee;
  • Participate in nursing program academic assessment processes;
  • Participate in mentoring and academic advising of nursing program students;
  • Facilitate scholarly activities;
  • Establish and maintain relations with internal and external constituencies;
  • Participate in the maintenance of accreditation standards for National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE);
  • Teach students in the nursing programs;
  • Participate in department and college activities;
  • Collaborate with peers and the Associate Dean of Nursing;
  • Participate in integration of simulation into theory and clinical courses;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master in Nursing or related field is required.
  • Current unencumbered RN license in WA State required or ability to obtain WA RN licensure prior to start of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Nursing or Education.
  • Experience in curriculum development, program evaluation and accreditation (NLNAC or CCNE).
  • Previous teaching experience in a nursing program with documented excellence.

  • Foster a climate of respectful, open and honest discourse;
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, staff and administrators as part of an educational team;
  • Model the use of Nursing Informatics and Information Literacy;
  • Uphold Olympic College's values and ethics necessary to maintain a civil climate;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the community college mission, diversity, and a learning-centered climate.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment;
  • May require evening, night, weekend, and branch campus teaching assignments;
  • Must become a member of the Association for Higher Education (AHE) or pay a representation fee within 30 days of employment;
  • Have or obtain certification in CPR from American Heart Association for healthcare providers;
  • Provide proof of current required immunizations;
  • This job requires punctual and regular attendance. This position may require work in a classroom, office, nursing lab, or variety of clinical environments, and may require the employee to move across campus to other buildings in order to teach or attend meetings. This position will require travel to clinical sites.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Per Olympic College Board of Trustees approved salary schedule will be based on education and qualified experience.
