Position Summary: Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire is looking for an experienced RN for our high demand Critical Care/Progressive Care units. We have an open model multi-specialty department with 24/7 Intensivist coverage, access to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and state-of-the art technology through 24/7 remove patient monitoring via Enhanced Critical Care (ECC). We care for patients who are ventilated and/or require intensive monitoring and interventions. The department is comprised of 20 Critical Care and 6 Progressive Care beds where we care for the following patient populations:
  • Cardiology/CV Surgery
  • Neurology/Neurosurgical
  • Dialysis
  • Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD)
  • Septic Shock
  • Abdominal and Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Repairs
  • Level II Trauma
Our department includes the following features:
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Low patient/caregiver ratio (assignments based on acuity)
  • Charge Nurses, who do not take a patient assignment, as a staff nurse resource
  • Two department based Nurse Educators
  • Rapid Response Nurse service 24/7 covered by a designated Critical Care Staff Nurse
  • RN Case Manager or Social Worker to assist with complex patients


Responsibilities:
The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.


Qualifications:
Graduate of an associate's degree or diploma program. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is also required. Graduation from an accredited associate’s degree program will be required beginning on January 1, 2016. All entry-level associate degree or diploma registered nurses with a RN start date after September 1, 2013, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing within 6 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date. Beginning on January 1, 2016 baccalaureate programs must be accredited.


Additional Qualifications:
One year RN experience within the last five years preferred Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Experience working in a team environment Computer skills required, prior experience


License or Certification: Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $29.95 per hour.
Hours/Pay Period: 60 every two weeks
Schedule Details: 12-hour shifts, Day/Night rotation

Weekend Schedule: Every third weekend
