Position Summary: Working Supervisor for Sleep Center, a 6 bed unit, located in the Mayo Clinic Hospital.

Responsibilities: Under the general direction of the Operations Manager and Medical Director of the Center for Sleep Medicine, delivers Sleep Lab services to patients and manages the daily 24/7 operations of the Sleep Lab, including participating in managing unit budget. Supervises and assigns tasks to other Sleep Lab employees. Responsible for the management and development of employees including, hiring, orientation, training, evaluating and taking appropriate disciplinary actions as needed. Maintains employees’ schedules, including requests for time off, ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained to meet business needs. Conducts staff meetings to ensure Sleep Lab employees are up to date on Sleep Lab operations and organizational matters and initiatives. Organizes and implements quality improvement programs and compliance activities in accordance with ADHS, OSHA, Joint Commission, AASM, and ASDA guidelines/resolutions. Provides appropriate information and instruction to the patient/family/significant others. Documents patient/family/significant others response to teaching and instruction. Communicates effectively with peers, health team members and physicians. Interacts effectively with patient’s family and/or significant others. Ensures the delivery of services reflects an effective and efficient use of supplies and appropriate utilization of resources. Maintains equipment and demonstrates correct and safe technique in the use of the equipment in accordance with specific product information, policy and procedure manuals. Implements, follows, and supervises appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies. Notifies the appropriate department(s) of repair needs and potential hazards. Removes equipment or supplies from service when needing repair. Collects, compares, sorts and prioritizes information and statistics used in decision making process for patient care and department operations.

Qualifications: Minimum Associate Degree in Respiratory care or a related clinical field required. Five (5) years’ experience working in a sleep disorders centers as a Polysomongrapher/Polysomnograpic Technician, which includes three (3) years’ supervisory/management experience required.

Additional Qualifications: Bachelor Degree preferred. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials with one year hospital based experience preferred. Demonstrated verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Demonstrated computer skills, leadership skills and problem solving skills. Knowledge of JCAHO, ASDA, AASM requirements and standards required.

License or Certification: Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) certification required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Competency. Arizona Respiratory Care license if applicable.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,087 based on a full-time position.
Hours/Pay Period: Full Time
Schedule Details: Flexibility to supervise day and night shifts.
Weekend Schedule: May include weekends.
