This position is responsible for delivering high-quality, coordinated care to patients affected by neurological disorders and their caregivers. Cares for patients in all age groups from young adult through geriatrics. The individual should demonstrate competence in the assessment and management of patients serviced as well as courtesy and respect for families, visitors, and other employees. Works in collaborative practice setting with supervising/collaborating physician, other nurses, social workers, and research coordinators to care for patients within the Department of Neurology.This position will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement an up-to-date care plan. Facilitate communication with all members of the healthcare team on behalf of the patient. Use clinical protocols to refer patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.Provide emotional support, and counseling, related to the clinical situation. Work with designated providers to develop and maintain hospital protocols. Be directly involved with the development and enhancement processes with the aim to improve the clinical experience for referring patients and providers.Communicates with referring physicians offices as required by the patient and providers.The Ambulatory Nurse II possesses the knowledge, skills and the attitude to effectively meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Ambulatory Nurse II position description addendum. The Ambulatory Nurse II exhibits UPHS organizational behavioral competencies which reflect its mission and are embedded in the professional practice competency domains. The Ambulatory Nurse II independently provides patient care through the application of the nursing process and accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients. Assigned patients may range in age from infancy to the elderly. The Ambulatory Nurse II demonstrates within the competency domains of Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork. The Ambulatory Nurse II works closely with the inter-professional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. The nurse focuses on expanding the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age appropriate considerations of assigned patients. The Ambulatory Nurse II seeks feedback in assuming leadership roles and provides feedback for improved clinical practice. The nurse demonstrates how nursing practice impacts the organizational vision, mission, and values.

Registered Nurse with active PA state licensure. BLS/CPR required. \n\nNational or specialty based certification preferred. BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing with 15 months or more of relevant professional nursing experience required.\n\nOne should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.\n\nShould have good analytical and deduction skills.\n\nNeed to be sympathetic and provide emotional support to the patient and caregivers.
