The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Advance Practice Team in Consultative Cardiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.Responsibilities will include daily rounds as part of the inpatient Consultative Cardiology service. The team includes a cardiology fellow, two cardiology faculty, two APPs, and 1-2 medical students. The number and type of consults will vary during the day in indication, acuity, and location. This is a new position and will likely evolve with time as the needs and demands of the service change.This position requires a high level of independence but is well supported with a collaborative and multi-disciplinary practice model. The high acuity clinical practice setting is dynamic, fast-paced, and high pressure. Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a strong medical/pharmacology/nursing knowledge are essential. In this role there will also be a tremendous professional growth potential and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicines tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education. Members of the team participate in a full range of quality initiatives, are encouraged to become active members of professional societies like the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA).All providers will function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania MedicalCenter medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The APP hired by the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed by the Clinical Manager for Heart and Vascular Advanced Practice, and within the human resource guidelines.
Master’s prepared Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant\n• Pennsylvania state licensure and certification as an ACNP or PA-C is required.\n• BLS, ACLS required
