All Acute Care Nurse Practitioners / Physician Assistants function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The Acute Care Nurse Practitioners / Physician Assistants hired by the Department of Advanced Practice will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating or supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative / Supervising Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee, and within the Human Resource guidelines. This position has a dual reporting structure. The Acute Care Nurse Practitioners / Physician Assistants will report to the Director of Advanced Practice who will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the position, as well as, implementation/oversight of selected hospital CEQI indicators that are chosen for each clinical department. The Human Resource issues relating to daily job performance will be the responsibility of the Director of Advanced Practice. In addition, a collaborating / supervising physician will be identified from the clinical division who will be responsible for direct oversight of the clinical role and lead orientation to the clinical unit and ongoing assessment of the clinical skills. The identified collaborating / supervising physician will evaluate the Acute Care Nurse Practitioners / Physician Assistants clinicals kills and competence as part of their annual performance review.

Current licensure as an RN and Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. \n\nAcute Care Board Certification Preferred.\n\nOR\n\nCurrent licensure as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, \n\nCertification as a Physician Assistant & MasterĂ¢€™s degree required.\n\n\nHours of work determined by the Clinical Service to meet the needs of patient care.\n\nHospital continuing education to meet the requirements of the system and as per JCAHO. Minimum requirements for continuing education as outlined by the State Board of Nursing or Medicine, as appropriate..
