The Associate Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for the Clinical Learning Environment (CLE) provides programmatic leadership and educational expertise for the Office of Graduate Medical Education. In collaboration with GME leadership, the Associate DIO supports and implements a strategic vision for advancing quality and safety through the clinical learning environment for residents and fellows as well as clinical faculty, nurses, advanced practice providers, and others participating in the education and clinical activities of housestaff. The Associate DIO fosters growth and optimizes teamwork and collaboration in interprofessional teams to improve patient and organizational outcomes. An important focus of the role is to develop deep understanding of GME and align with organizational goals to design, implement, and evaluate programs and/or initiatives that advance these goals.An Associate DIO must be able to: (a) communicate effectively toward negotiating multiple perspectives within the organization and driving change; (b) establish credibility and rapport with interprofessional colleagues; (c) exhibit self-direction in expanding knowledge and competence in program design and development; (d) apply strategic thinking and analytic skills to design and implement initiatives.Accountabilities::¢\tSupport ACGME Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) mission and vision and craft/implement UPHS action items from the CLER review processes.¢\tFoster an environment conducive to educating trainees in the ACGME competency areas¢\tParticipate in review of program metrics and training outcomes, including annual surveys; review of underperforming programs; responses to ACGME citations¢\tEngage with nursing across the health system to advance education about GME through onboarding, interprofessional education (IPE), and by addressing professionalism concerns¢\tServe as a GME representative to hospital and health system leadership for issues related to the CLE¢\tIdentify opportunities for faculty, nursing, and housestaff professional and academic development/learning regarding the CLE, IPE, professionalism and participate in implementing these educational programs. ¢\tServe as voting member on Graduate Medical Education Committee; present resident/fellow summary information on QI/PS projects, Penn Medicine Safety Net (PMSN) reporting, other matters related to QI/PS¢\tParticipate with hospital QI teams to increase feedback to house staff following PMSN reports¢\tWork with faculty to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate initiatives through the ongoing ACGME Pursuing Excellence Collaborative¢\tCollaborate with GME Office to support Penn Medicine Professionalism and House Staff Well-Being initiatives; participate as member of GME Wellness Committee

Masters in Nursing or equivalent, PA RN Licensure
