The Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy ambulatory practice at the Penn Medicine Perelman Center. The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for direct and indirect patient care of a wide array of gastrointestinal disease and disorders. The incumbent will work most closely with our Esophageal and Swallowing Disorders faculty in the evaluation and management of adult patients with achalasia, acid peptic disorders and esophageal cancer.This position requires a high level of independence and is well supported with a collaborative and multi-disciplinary practice model. The clinical practice setting is dynamic and fast-paced. Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communications kills, as well as a strong medical and pharmacology are essential. In this role there will also be a tremendous professional growth potential and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicines tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education. Members of the team participate in a full range of quality initiatives, are encouraged to become active members of professional societies.All nurse practitioners and physician assistants will function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP or PA hired by the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed by the Divisional Senior APP Clinical Manager and APP Lead, and within the human resource guidelines.

Licensed to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the Pennsylvania through the State Board of Nursing.\n\nAcute Care certification Preferred, Not Required\n\nor\n\nLicensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Pennsylvania through the State Board of Medicine.\n\nPrior to employment, the CRNP/PA must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board.\n\nCertification as a CRNP or PA-C required at time of employment.\n\n2.5 Year or less experience preferred\n\nMasters Degree Required
