The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Inpatient Clinical Consult will be primarily responsible for providing inpatient care at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC), working as a consultant in a variety of inpatient settings, visiting patients and families, and offering recommendations to the primary team regarding the management of patients with Diabetes. Consultations may occur in all inpatient care settings.  This role functions within an inter-professional team working together to provide expert patient- and family-centered consultative patient care.This position does require weekend coverage responsibilities to meet the needs of the inpatient consult service at both PPMC and HUP. Weekend coverage is scheduled in advance.Outpatient coverage may be required depending on the needs of the practice.All nurse practitioners function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body.  The CRNP hired by the Department of Medicine & Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement.  All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/physician designee, within the Human Resources Guidelines. The CRNP will report to the APP/MD lead, for HUP/PPMC, of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, who will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the position as it pertains to the Department of Medicine, as well as implementation/oversight of selected hospital CEQI indicators that are chosen for each individual department. In addition, collaborating physicians will be identified from the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism who will be responsible for the direct oversight of the clinical role and lead orientation to the clinical unit and ongoing assessment of the clinical skills.  The identified collaborating physician and/or Lead APP will evaluate the CRNP's Clinical Skills and Competence as part of their annual performance review.

Graduate of a NLN- approved school of nursing. \n\nRN and CRNP licensure in the State of Pennsylvania. \n\nMust have current CPR certification. \n\nCompletion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program with a MSN licensure and Acute Care certification required. \n\nNational Certification Board is required. \n\nPrior nurse practitioner experience is preferable.\n\nMonday through Friday and weekends as scheduled. Approximately 40 hours per week. Hours may be adjusted to meet the operational needs of the department.
