This is a unique opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join the inpatient Advanced Practice Team caring for our Vascular Surgery and Cardiac Surgery patients. The services are covered by Advanced Practice Providers (NPs/PAs) 24/7. This position is for night coverage only. Responsibilities include (but not limited to) providing inpatient care, in the ICU and on the medical surgical floor, for patients who are undergoing or who have undergone vascular and/or cardiac surgery. There is also the exciting opportunity to collaborate with the night surgical intensive care APP and work with them in a learning environment. The PA-C/CRNP will provide quality care across the continuum working collaboratively with the physicians, fellows and other APPs to achieve a team centered approach to comprehensive patient care for our patients. This position requires a high level of independence but is well supported with collaborative practice and multi-disciplinary practice model. The high acuity clinical practice setting is dynamic, fast- paced, and high pressure. Excellent critical thinking skills, organizational, communication skills, and strong medical, pharmacology, nursing, medical knowledge are essential. In this role there will also be a tremendous professional growth potential and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicines tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education. All of our Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners function under the guidelines as designed by the Pennsylvania Hospital medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The PA-C/CRNP hired by the Department of Advanced Practice will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their supervisory/collaborative agreement with their supervising/collaborating physician. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed by the Lead Advanced Practice Provider, taking into consideration the needs of the services, and within the human resource guidelines. The Advanced Practitioner, while providing quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the care team, performs histories, physicals, and procedures according to credentialing, and provide care and patient/family teaching. Also participates in research as appropriate, ensures regulatory compliance, documents care according to standards, and prescribes in accordance with the collaborative agreement and State regulations.
Current state license as a Physician Assistant, MasterĂ¢€™s Degree, \n\n Current national Certification (NCCPA);\n\n CPR/ACLS Certification as required for patient population/setting \n\n OR\n\n Currently licensed as a professional nurse and certified registered nurse practitioner in the State of Pennsylvania. \n\n Master's degree in Nursing with national certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Required\n\n CPR/ACLS/NRP certification depending on practice setting
