Penn Medicine Princeton Health in Plainsboro, NJ is searching for a dynamic and innovative Nursing Professional Development Specialist to join their talented team. The ideal candidate with have prior clinical expertise in adult medical/surgical nursing. The Professional Development Specialist facilitates the assessment of clinical educational needs and develops, plans, implements, and evaluates the educational programs designed to enhance the clinical development of the Nursing staff and other Princeton Healthcare System employees. The Professional Development Specialist serves as a resource for the staff, patients, and the community. The Professional Development Specialist evaluates clinical practice, facilitates compliance with Joint Commission standards and Department of Health regulations, and seeks educational and learning opportunities for the staff to continue to provide quality age-specific patient care. The Professional Development Specialist may be assigned to specific clinical specialty areas.Some essential job duties and responsibilities include:- Collaborates with leadership and department management on an ongoing basis to assess learning needs of staff.- Develops, plans and implements in-service and continuing educational activities to meet identified learning needs and performance improvement initiatives. Integrates new procedures, technologies, and equipment information into learning activities. May participate in programming to meet patient and community-based educational needs.- Serves as a planner and presenter for the Continuing Education Provider Unit.- Designs educational resource materials utilizing principles of adult education.- Demonstrates effectiveness, courtesy, and discretion in communicating with staff, physicians, Healthcare System employees, patients, and family members; models professional practice at all times.- Accountable for improving patient care through adherence to all patient safety and quality standards, regulations, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS\nEducation\n-\tBachelor's degree in nursing - required.\n-\tMaster's degree in nursing - required.\n- Doctoral degree such as a DNP or PhD or enrolled in a DNP or PhD program\t- highly preferred.\n\nRelated Work Experience\n- \tMinimum 5 years clinical experience\n\nLICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS\n-\tBasic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)\n-\tActive Registered Nurse license in the state of New Jersey\n-\tBasic Life Support certification (BLS)\n-\tBasic Life Support Instructor certification (BLS) - preferred\n-\tCertification in Nursing Professional Development or clinical area - preferred\n\nSPECIALIZED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS\n-\tExcellent interpersonal skills\n-\tLeadership qualities\n-\tStrong sense of professionalism as measured by membership/leadership in relevant professional organizations\n-\tCustomer Service/Patient Care orientation, a teamwork approach, flexibility, organizational and problem-solving skills
