Position description
The chaplain provides counsel, comfort, and pastoral ministry to the spiritual needs of patients and families as assigned. This individual provides a pastoral perspective when consulting with staff, patients, and families regarding ethical, moral, or personal issues. The chaplain is skilled in crisis and bereavement counseling and is an active participant in multidisciplinary patient care team. This individual promotes a healing environment enhancing spiritual and mental health for both patients and staff. The chaplain's duties include providing sacraments of the church for patients, relatives, and staff as requested. May require being an Independent Living Donor Advocate (ILDA) after the conclusion of training. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the lifespan. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required. In addition, the chaplain supports leadership through activities that include development of staff, teaching, community involvement, and participation in research as appropriate. Must be available to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends with on-call required.
Qualifications
Masters Theological degree from an accredited seminary (CHEA)required. Minimum of four Units Clinical Pastoral Education from an ACPE approved center required. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Computer skills required, EMR experience preferred.
Additional qualifications
Hospital Chaplain experience preferred. Responds effectively to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Able to work autonomously and in a team environment.
License or certification
Endorsement for service as a Chaplain by affiliated faith body required. Board Certification Chaplain preferred, certified within 3 years of hire in a national professional association that requires fulfillment of minimum of 4 units of ACPE accredited CP

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $30.66 per hour.
