Charge RN ER: Full-Time Nights
 
The Registered Nurse in the Charge Nurse role is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care. The nurse in this role will be expected to fulfill the following skills, including but not limited to: provide competent, safe care for medical patients, such as diabetes and digestive disorders, hematology and acute disease processed in some cancer patients, renal, pre and post-operative surgical patient care needs, other disorders of the muscular/skeletal system, cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation and treatment, acute patient assessment and response, respiratory and cardiac disease processes, and teaching across multiple disease processes. The nurse assumes responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period.
 
Ensures implementation of operational standards, which promote the maintenance of patient rights including, but not limited to: Informed consent, clarification of patient expectations, explanation of treatment processes, maintenance of confidentiality of patient information, maintenance of patient privacy by minimizing exposure during all procedures, adaptation of care to all ages of patients served, handling of patient complaints .
 
Assesses multiplicity of patient care and Department service needs to coordinate assignment of nursing staff to meet all required services on the unit on designated shift .
 
Demonstrates sound knowledge base in nursing practice and its clinical application to the patient population served in the unit, including the operation of equipment, and policy and procedures used in the delivery of patient care in the unit.
 
Maintains communication with other members of the management team regarding potential/actual problems or concerns, and with Medical Staff issues.
 

Rounds on patients during the shift.

 

Monitors and maintains high standards regarding patient care and oversees compliance with core measures on applicable patients.
Assumes administrative responsibilities for the provision of services on designated shift in collaboration with  other members of the management team.Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.

 

Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when she/he is on duty.

 

Actively participates in appropriate department and hospital committees and ensures that unit personnel are involved in this process as appropriate.

 

May perform staff level RN duties. Maintains all annual nursing competencies. Performs patient assessments, procedures/treatments, provides ongoing evaluation of procedures/treatments, updates plan of care, documents care appropriately.

Qualifications

    • Associated Degree in Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
    • Minimum of six months of clinical practice in the Clinical Specialty of the department
    • RN Idaho License or RN Compact License required
