SHIFT: Evenings (rotating weekends)

SCHEDULE: Full-time

Charge Registered Nurse - GI/Endoscopy - FT Days (Monday - Friday; 6:30am - 3:00pm; Call required - approximately 10 shifts per month). Prefer 1-2 prior Charge RN experience; GI LAB experience preferred.

GI/Endoscopy Charge RN Position Summary:

  • AssistNM/ Director to round on 100% of patients. Specifically targeting pain, toileting, placement, position, staffrecognition.
  • Roundswith physicians to ascertain plan of care for patients and provide update onpatients.
  • MonitorsCore Measure metrics.  Ensuring staff areaware of requirements.
  • Activelyparticipants in performance improvement activities.
  • Addressespatient/family concerns/satisfaction issues. Informing NM/Director ofconcerns. 
  • Engagedin patient satisfaction.  Discusses andmonitors responsiveness, pain and nurse communication.
  • Validatesintentional rounding performed by staff and provides recognition/coaching asneeded.  Reports to NM/Director staff whocontinuously are in need of coaching.
  • Conductchart audits for documentation compliance.
  • Assistswith the interview process of new hires.
  • Overseestaff assignments. Ensuring assignments are appropriate to patients’ needs andupdates as needed in accordance with staff’s competency and infection controlissues.
  • Maintainscontact with staff throughout the shift for updates on patients’ conditions.
  • Providesreal time education as needed.  Deliverstraining and education on identified topics.
  • Participantsin ongoing professional development related to nursing education.
  • Acceptsdepartmental accountability for current and new policies, clinical programs andsystems necessary to support changing patient care needs.
  • Coordinatenursing care with other disciplines to maximize outcomes and resourceallocation.
  • Impactsstaff recruitment and retention. Using various motivational strategies.
  • Speakspositively about the organization and demonstrates positive attitude andbehavior in the work environment. Is a change agent for hospital/department initiatives.

Qualifications

 
Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with either an ADN or BSN degree.
  • Must hold a current RN license from the KansasBoard of Nursing or an active compact license.  American Heart Association BLS and ACLSrequired. 
  • Prior experience in a similar size facility with similar services provided is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of previous charge experience preferred.
