We are seeking New Graduate RN's for our hospital internship program to ensure that we continue to provide allpatients with high quality, efficient care. This cohort will begin on March 16, 2020. You must have your California RN license at the time of interview to be eligible for this cohort.

JobSummary

Accelerate your nursing career by joining ourSpecialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses (StaRN) program!We invite new graduate registered nurses to apply for a uniqueopportunity to be given didactic and clinical training in one of our Medical, Med/Surgical, Telemetry, or Oncology units at Good Samaritan Hospital.

In our StaRN program, you will receive theeducation and support necessary to develop the judgment, skill and knowledge youwill need to become the highest caliber nurse. During the StaRN program, youwill work with instructors to complete class assignments, skills training,exercises and relevant testing. Then, you will work with your preceptor duringthe preceptorship that follows and have the opportunity to be receive mentoringby the best, most highly educated and trained nurses within our facilities.


During the interview process you will meet with a panel of nursing leaders who will help to ensure the best starting point for your nursing career. You will be extended an offer for a unit prior to starting the program, please note that you will stay with your unit during your first year of employment as you complete the internship and subsequent residency to help prepare you for your career.


For Med/Surg/Tele:

During the first five weeks of training you will be an employee of HealthTrust a company in the HCA family.The first 5 weeks of the internship will consist of classroom training.

  • The cohort will be scheduled for a Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:00, schedule and attendance isMANDATORYto remain in the program. Please know that if you have pre-scheduled plans during this time frame you will be asked to apply for a later cohort to ensure that you will be able to attend all classes.
  • You will receive any certifications that you will need to work in the unit you have been hired into, these include BLS and ACLS and you do not need to have these prior to starting with the facility.
  • You will work with instructors on skills training to build you muscle memory with these skills to help ensure a comfortable transition into the unit.
  • There will be a full week of simulation lab training where you will go through everyday simulations as well as several codes to allow you the opportunity to work with the tools in your hands and participate in multiple roles.
  • You will spend around 25% of the time working at home with online training modules.

Following the didactic learning you will be hired into the facility and work with a preceptor in the unit you were hired into. The HealthTrust trainers and the facility educators will also be on hand to work with you should you need anything during this time. The length of time for the preceptorship depends on the unit you were hired into but usually lasts from 7 to 8 weeks.


Should you accept a position with our StaRN program you will be asked to sign an agreement for a 2 year commitment to the facility that you are hired into.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Graduateof an Accredited School of Nursing, BSN required.

  • This isfor graduates within the previous 12 months who do not have any acute careexperience.
  • Independentlymaintains license
  • Acquiresrequired contact hours to maintain license
  • Applicantsmay apply for the program prior to passing the NCLEX exam
  • Trainingwill include BLS/ACLS certification
  • Self-motivatedand strong communication skills required

Acceptanceinto the program requires a two-year commitment to Good Samaritan Hospital
