The RN Resident is a registerednurse participating in a specified training program which is standardized basedon area of specialization. The trainingincludes orientation, combined with unit based, precepted clinical experiencesand didactic instruction. The RNResident is under the direct supervision of their Preceptor and SupervisorNursing Unit. According to hospitalpolicies and procedures, by the direction of their Preceptor, the ImmersionResident assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assignedpatients.



Current RN licensure inTexas or Texas Graduate Nurse (GN) Permit

Current BLScertification.

If critical careunit:Current ACLS certification upon hire (Exception:GN mustobtain within six (6) months from date of hire or transfer into nursing unit)

If critical careunit:Current PALS certification upon hire (Exception:GN mustobtain within six (6) months from date of hire or transfer into nursing unit)


Graduation from anaccredited/approved school of professional nursing, no longer than six monthsago. Completion of ADN or BSN degree.

ADN Graduates:Enrollment in a RN to BSN program is required within 90 days of hire date.Completion of BSN Program required within 3 years of enrollment.



Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transcribephysician's orders.

Knowledge of body substance isolation.

Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs.
