SCHEDULE:1.0 FTE (40 hours per week), SHIFT: Days, Monday - Friday

POSITION SUMMARY:

TheInfection Prevention and Control Specialist (IPCS), trained in hospitalepidemiology principles, assists in the planning, development and evaluation ofthe goals, standards, policies andprocedures of an integrated hospital-wide Infection Control Program toensure rigorous infection control standards that meet Joint Commission, OSHA,Public Health Department, and Centers for Disease Control requirements;completes infection control needs assessment; educates employees and providersabout infection control; and conducts surveillance, analysis, reporting, riskreduction, and outbreak control of hospital acquired infections; and provides consultation oninfection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies; serves as athought leader for infection prevention and control.

Qualifications

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Minimum: CA Registered Nurse (RN) , (CIC) Certificate in Infection Control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. If experience and no current certification, must pass CIC examination within 6 months. No direct infection control experience must take exam within one year of hire.

Minimum: Three (3) years of acute care or related experience, preferably in infection control

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: BSN and/or Master's degree required in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
