The StaRN program is innovatively designed to provide intense post graduate training to newly licensed and experienced nurses. This paid 22 week program combinesclassroom instruction, eLearning, robust OR skill days in a functioning OR suite and hands on clinical training. Upon completion, RN is equipped with the knowledge and skill set typically found in a more experienced OR nurse.

The next program is anticipated to begin onMay 4, 2020, and is comprised of didactic training, high definition simulation and a clinical preceptorship.

The StaRN Peri-operative program is a 22 week Classroom/Preceptorship program. It allows new graduate or experienced nurses to obtainOR nursing experience through an intensive internship program.

Part 1: StaRN Training First 10 Weeks:

Interactive classroom discussions, case studies, handson skills training, OR skills days with experienced StaRN clinical instructors

Part 2: StaRN Clinical Preceptorship Next 12 Weeks:

  • Conducted at the hospital
  • You will be assigned a preceptor specifically for you; to train you and get you acclimated to your role
  • Regular development meetings between the resident, their preceptor and their Director
  • Customized Coaching/Onboarding report for clinical preceptorship

Part 3: HCA Residency Program Remainder of your 1styear

  • Upon successful completion of the StaRN Program, residents will transition to their full-time roles at the hospital
  • Nurse Residents continue professional development through routine interactions with a mentor (meet at least once a month)
  • Attend a monthly residency seminar
  • Complete an evidence-based capstone project
  • Attend graduation

Requirements:

  • Current Florida RN license or Multi-state Compact RN license
  • Program acceptance requires a two (2) year, full-time commitment to the hospital. If a nurse chooses to leave the facility before the 2 year commitment is fulfilled, they may be required to meet a monetary responsibility.
  • Self-motivated and strong communication skills required
  • If new Grad, must be graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Candidates must live within 30 minutes of facility to meet call requirements
  • Attendance is imperative throughout the StaRN Training program
