TriStar Maury Regional Behavioral Health is a new 60-bed, 49,900 sq. ft. facility that will be located at 1001 North James Campbell Boulevard in Columbia, Tennessee. The facility will serve both adult and adolescent patients.

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Plans individualized and holistic patient care. Participates in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performance of acceptance testing, calibration, and safety surveys of imaging and radiation therapy equipment.
  • Performance of commissioning of radiation therapy equipments and setting up baseline for routine quality management program.
  • Serving as the liaison for machine maintaince and repair.
  • Supervision of radiation treatment design and planning processes.
  • Performance of patient specific quality assurance using appropriate phantom and measuring devices.
  • Performance and supervision of redundancy checks of dose calculations using manual or automated methods.
  • Performance of a holistic review of radiation treatments for each patient including initial physics checks, weekly chart checks, and end of treatment reviews.
  • Routine supervision of image registration of all applicable modalities in reference to target delineation by radiation oncologists.
  • Consultation with radiation oncologists in the development of speical physics consult of treatment strategies.
  • Participates directly in the treatment planning and verification of special treatment procedures including stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiation therapy, high dose rate brachytherapy, and low dose rate brachytherapy.
  • Development of purchasing and acceptance specifications for imaging and radiation therapy equipment.
  • Consultation with radiation oncologists, as required, concerning patients doses and optimization of patient treatment plans and delivery.
  • Development, implementation and supervision of quality control programs in the radiology or radiation oncology department.
  • Supervision of the design and construction of patient treatment aids or special devices including blocks, compensators, molds, etc.
  • Supervision of brachytherapy procedures when applicable and abiding by NRC/State regulations.
  • Research and development of new devices and modalities for improved  therapeutic uses of radiation.
  • Providing technical direction of radiation oncology staff as specified by the demartment medical director.
  • Development of policy and procedures related to radiation safety and radiation oncology physics.
  • Membership on applicable committees, such as the Safety Committee, the Radiation Safety Committee, Radioactive Drug Research Committee, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee, Disaster Committee, Cancer Care Committee, and Institutional Review Board.
  • Participation in clinical and translational research.
  • Participation in continuing medical education and maintainence of necessary professional certifications.
  • Participation in quality improvement processes.
  • Completes other duties to support departmental operations as assigned or requested by medical/administrative directors.

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.  Required
  • Current licensure with the Tennessee State Board of Nursing Required
    BSN  - Preferred

License, Certifications, & Training:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required
