Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to work in the nursing Float Pool to serve as the leader ofthe Nursing Care team who is ultimately responsible and accountable to thepatient for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patientfocused, outcome oriented care. Willdevelop competencies for functioning safely in all areas of Medical/Surgicalservices. Nursing plan of care willinclude all age groups with the exception of infants.

What you will do inthis role:

  • Through assessment of the patients physical,nutritional, psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, cultural, educational, and rehabilitativeneeds, problems are identified and documented in the clinical record andcommunicated to the physician, case manager, and ancillary departments whenappropriate

  • Appropriate standards of care, care plans, andinterventions are initiated, professionally modified, and communicated to thepatient and other members of the healthcare team

  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skillsnecessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety,and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups: pediatric, children, adolescent, adult,geriatric

  • Provides patient/family health education thatpromotes healthy behaviors, supports recovery, and enables the patient/familyto be involved in decisions about their own care

  • The patients responses to interventions andprogress toward desired outcomes are assessed, re-assessed, evaluated, anddocumented in the clinical record

  • Patient care activities are coordinatedthrough collaboration and planning with other members of the healthcare team

  • Physicians orders are carried out accuratelyand efficiently, and clarified when necessary

  • Adverse or sudden changes in the patientsconditions are promptly communicated to the physician, charge nurse, nursingsupervisor, and/or family with specific and pertinent data

  • Able to identify potential or actual victimsof abuse and understands the proper reporting mechanism

  • Able to recognize adverse drug reactions anddemonstrates understanding of proper reporting mechanism once reaction isidentified

  • Appropriately assesses the patients pain andinvolves the patient in effective management of that pain using appropriateinterventions

  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skillsnecessary for administration of blood and blood products and appropriately monitorsthe patient receiving blood/blood products for any transfusion reaction; takesproper measures once a reaction is recognized

  • Patient care equipment is utilized safely andefficiently in accordance with hospital policies and procedures

  • Standard precautions are promoted and followedin the utilization of principles of infection control in patient care

  • Achieves stated goals related to jobperformance

  • Educational attendance records revealattendance at all required educational programs/in-services


What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of a Nursing Program from an accredited school
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana
  • CPR for Healthcare Providers to be completed within 30 days of hire

  • ACLS to be completed within 30 days of hire

  • At least three years of acute care experience
