ICU Nurse


Founded in 1982, RioGrande Regional Hospital (RGRH), an HCA-affiliated facility, is proud ofmaintaining its status as one of the leading healthcare providers in the RioGrande Valley. With 320 beds and a teamof more than 500 physicians representing over 35 specialties, we offer a rangeof inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical, and specialty services,including:

  • 24-hour emergency room
  • Level III Trauma Center
  • Comprehensive cardiovascular care
  • The only pediatric heart program in the Valley
  • 30-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)


Rio GrandeRegional is affiliated with HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division isa comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergencycenters and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christiand South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory carecenters, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.


 What you will do in this role:


·        Perform direct patientcare within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis onthe Cardiovascular Service Line. 

o  Use therapeuticcommunication in daily practice.

o  Maintain a safe andtherapeutic Intensive Care environment.

o  Implement and directcare, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual ICUpatients.

o  Evaluate theeffectiveness of the nursing process.

o  Provide emotionalsupport of the patient and significant others to make informed choicesregarding health care.

o  Promote an ICUenvironment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect andappreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture.

o  Maintain high quality,age specific care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as assigned.

o  Delegate tasks to theappropriate caregiver.

o  Participate inCardiovascular Department specific initiatives and process improvement.

o  Provide supervision ofnew employees, patient care assistants, vocational nurses, nurse technicians,student nurses, and / or nurse interns.

o  Support the mission,vision, and values of the organization


What qualificationsyou will need:


·        Graduate of anaccredited School of Professional Nursing

·        Current license by theBoard of Nurse Examiners State of Texas.

·        Minimum of one-yearexperience in Critical Care in an acute care hospital within the last threeyears required.

·        Experience with highacuity ICU medical / surgical patients is preferred.

·        RN license or newgraduate proof of intent to test.

·        Employment in thisposition is contingent upon successful licensure as a RN.

·        Completed AHA ACLSProvider Course required upon hire for experienced ICU nurses.

·        AHA ACLS required within6 months of employment for non-experienced ICU nurses.

·        TNCC required within 18months of employment.

·        Current BLScertification required

·        CCRN preferred
