Position description

Provide clinical and organizational leadership to staff when Senior Leadership, Directors, Practice Advancement Specialists, Patient Care Managers and other hospital leadership are not regularly scheduled. Assist Directors with administrative duties including personnel management, budgetary adherence, and staffing issues to ensure leadership continuity is maintained for all staff. Encourage decentralization of decision making to facilitate the development of professional practice. Serve as a clinical resource to staff and patients. Serve as a role model for healthy relationship management with providers and other health care team members. Develops highly functioning team driven toward service excellence. Supports orientation and Training: for new team members ensuring a welcoming environment. Develops staff continuously through a variety of means including feedback, coaching, mentoring and encouragement. Acts as primary retention officer for all team members. Manages team work flow and provides appropriately challenging work assignments. Conducts timely, effective and equitable performance evaluations for team members. Seeks opportunities to recognize and celebrate individual as well as team achievements in a timely fashion. Encourages an atmosphere of fun, appreciation and celebration. Optimizes medical center goals when making team decisions. Contributes to development and maintenance of departmental strategic plan through fiscal and action management. Ensures department strategic plan is aligned with organizational plans and goals. Ensures that leadership, key stakeholders, organizational and departmental strategic plans and strategy map are considered during planning and decision making. Continuously communicates and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of the organization. Monitors and implements the strategic plan and strategy map in daily activities. Demonstrate understanding of staffing principles to provide safe, effective, efficient, equitable, and timely patient centered care. Monitor bed control/patient placement to ensure resources are available to meet patient care needs. Responsible for achieving results. Consults with leadership and works with employees to define goals with measurable results. Communicates defined goals. Provides measurable results.

Experience: Minimum of two years acute care nursing experience required. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.

Education: Graduate of an associate's degree or diploma program. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is also required. Graduation from an accredited associate's degree program will be required beginning on January 1, 2016. All entry-level associate degree or diploma registered nurses with a RN start date after October 1, 2013, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing within 6 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date. Beginning on January 1, 2016 baccalaureate programs must be accredited.

License or certification
Licensure & Certification: Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Additional specialty certification/Training: as required by the work area

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3095.20, based on a full-time position.

Schedule details
12 hour straight night shifts.

Orientation will be at full time hours.

Weekend schedule
Every third weekend and holiday.
