ThePICC Team RN demonstrates advancedknowledge and skills in the care of patients requiring IV access. The RN willprovide patient care in an acute setting, inserting PICC lines, maintainingPICC and other central venous access devices, difficult peripheral IV site starts,and monitoring quality metrics related to these devices. The PICC RN willeducate patients, families and staff regarding PICC lines and other centralvenous access devices. The PICC Team RN must be able to respond and communicateeffectively with the multidisciplinary team. He/she must utilize critical thinking skills when problem solving lineissues and developing plans of care in collaboration with other staff members.When the need arises, will complete other duties as assigned, includingfunctioning in a Resource RN capacity under the direction of the NursingSupervisor.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification
  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS – Healthcare provider
  • ACLS or PALS required within the first 6 months of hire. 
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. 
Experience
  • Two years bedside clinical RN experience required. 
  • Two years as a PICC/Vascular Access nurse desired.
 
Special Qualifications:  
  • Must complete proctoring and demonstrate competency in at leastfive (5) PICC insertions using ultrasound.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families,physicians, and other health care team members. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
