Position description
The Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory/Procedural supervises the day-to-day clinical operation of designated work unit(s) providing guidance and support to the clinical and support staff to ensure that quality patient or client focused care is delivered. When appropriate, the Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory/Procedural provides professional patient care utilizing the nursing process in collaboration with the patient, families and interdisciplinary healthcare team to meet educational and discharge needs. This individual may assist in high-risk procedures, surgery and/ or provide patient education in specific units.

The Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory/Procedural assures that appropriate care is delivered. In addition, the individual supports leadership through activities that include development of staff, teaching, community involvement, participation in committees and research (as applicable).

The Nurse Supervisor Ambulatory/Procedural is responsible to supervise nursing practice and support staff as appropriate within an ambulatory/procedural/ program/unit and supervisory responsibilities such as staff performance evaluations. The individual may also have clinical responsibilities (i.e., patient assignments) in some smaller work units.
Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate degree program (accredited program requirement is effective January 1, 2018 for MCHS MN sites). MCHS sites: Effective January 1, 2017 applicants for Director, Manager, and Supervisor roles must have baccalaureate in nursing to be eligible to apply. Effective September 1, 2019 all Directors, Managers, Supervisors hired prior to January 1, 2017 must have completed baccalaureate in nursing. Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
Additional qualifications
Management experience preferred.
License or certification
Current state RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the State Board of Nursing in which the RN practices.

Midwest: Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs:
  1. American Heart Association
  2. American Red Cross

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,832.80, based on a full-time position.
